A native of Hallsboro, North Carolina, “Graham”, as he was known by his friends and family, was born on December 23, 1934, the youngest son of Baldie and Ila Estelle (Pope) Pierce. He was the husband to the love of his life, Doris Vivian (Player) Pierce, whom he married on March 27, 1955. Graham and Doris met while attending Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC, and after being married, lived in Durham, NC and Washington, DC while Graham served in the US Army while stationed at the Pentagon. Graham returned to Charlotte in 1965 and worked in sales and business management in the commercial truck tire business at Leonard & Nicholson Tire Service and Parrish Tire Company. Graham was a Southern Baptist, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and attending or watching NASCAR races. He was a devoted father and friend and always had a story or tall tale to share with friends. Many of Graham’s later years were dedicated to caring for Doris as she struggled with dementia.
Graham's wife, Doris, predeceased him on April 9, 2021, as did his eldest son, Kenneth Michael, on March 9, 2023. Graham was also predeceased by all five of his siblings.
He is survived by his youngest son, Keith Gregory, and his wife, Nancy Lynn (Lilley), of Marion, NC, Ken’s widow, Sue Thomas Pierce of Greer, SC, and sister-in-law Judy Pierce of Charlotte, NC.
