Larry Hamilton Wofford

Larry was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, the son of the late Luther H. Wofford and Ethel Michaels Wofford.

He retired from textiles in 1993 with the VF Corporation, formerly Johnston Mills & Bassett Walker, Inc. He began working for Johnston Mills in Charlotte at the age of 16 and transferred to the Mineral Springs location when that location closed.

Larry was an avid New York Yankee fan. As a baseball fan, he loved more than anything playing shortstop in his younger years. He loved fishing with his sons and grandson and spending time with his family. He loved Jesus and would remind you every night to "say your prayers".

Larry lived life to its fullest and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Gail McCarter Wofford; one daughter, Teresa Wofford Iles; two sons, Bill Wofford (Pam) and Mick Wofford (Crystal); two sisters, Dolores Stalvey and Wilma Farrington; four grandchildren, Jason Iles (Amy), Crystal Iles, Ellie and Luke Wofford; and four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Abby, Madison and Emma Iles.

The family will receive friends at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227 on Thursday, December 1st, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A service in the chapel will follow at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. L. Todd Marlow. Burial will be private.
