Laura Hinson Beard

She was born on February 18, 1943, to the late Earnie A. and Selma Shirley Hinson.

Laura grew up in Camden, South Carolina and attended Camden High School. She later married James Thomas Beard in 1962 and had four children. In 1975, the family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where Laura was employed by the City of Charlotte Water Department. She retired in 2008 and enjoyed being a full-time grandmother where she became affectionately known as "Mimi". Laura had many loves and interests in her life including traveling and fishing. She was also an extraordinary cook and enjoyed preparing meals and hosting events for her family. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor, her hospitable nature, and her love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.

Along with her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her grandson, Brian Mitchell Austin; sisters, Loma Hall and Betty Farmer; and brothers, Tracy Hinson, Shirley Hinson, Henry Hinson, Delbert Hinson, and Earnie Hinson. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Thomas Beard; her children, Laura Querry (Frank), Mark Thomas Beard, Donna Austin (Danny), and Brenda Beard (Jimmy Messer); grandchildren, Whitney Thomas (Jeff), Chad Flowe, Kelsey Flowe, Justin Childress, Zachary Thomas, Ashley Noble (Josh), Joseph Thomas, Carah Thomas, Amanda Montagud (Vincent), Andrew Austin (Thelma Barraza), and Samantha White; and step-grandchildren, Dakota Messer, and Alexandria Messer; great-grandchildren, Molly, Lucas, Jason, Sebastian, Micah, Harper, Zoey, and Brady; and sibling, Jackie Hinson Riley.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sunset Memory Gardens, located at 8901 Lawyers Rd., Mint Hill, North Carolina.
