Leon "Frank" Franklin Randall, Jr.

Frank would tell you that marrying the love of his life, Sue Ann Waller, and sharing his life with her was the highlight of his existence and what he appreciated most about his time here with us. They married in June of 1980 and resided in Charlotte for a majority of their 35 years of marriage before Sue’s passing in 2013. Frank and Sue were very passionate about their Scottish Heritage. He was of the MacDuff clan and commonly displayed his house colors upon his cap. Prior to this, Frank graduated from Independence High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy.

In 2020, Frank found his “Forever Cabin by the Stream” in the mountains of Ashe County. Moving into the mountains fit Frank’s love of the outdoors and he was quite happy relocating to “MacDuff Manor.” He and his cats, Blue and Blackjack, enjoyed many relaxing afternoons on his screen porch listening to the stream. It brings us joy knowing Frank was able to find peace away from the city and, even if for a short while, he experienced the surroundings he felt most at home in.

If there were two hobbies Frank loved, they were partaking in the Scottish Highland Games and riding his motorcycles. Frank and Sue were extremely involved in the Highland Games almost every year where he routinely entered archery competitions using bows and arrows he made by hand. In addition to this, Frank recently took up fly fishing in his time at the cabin.

Frank was one of a kind, a loyal friend, and will be missed.

A Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will then reconvene at 4:30 pm at Robinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 9424 Harrisburg Road, Charlotte, NC.
