Loretta was born December 21, 1932, and when asked her birthdate, she always smiled and when saying her birthdate, she would follow with “she was the best Christmas present for her
parents".
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Daniel B. Johnson and her beloved parents, Carolyn and Herman Yandle.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Johnson Kirkpatrick (John), son, W. Glenn Johnson (Cindy), daughter, Alyce Johnson Alexander (Dennis) and daughter in law, Jan W. Johnson, sister, Faye Yandle Furr, brothers, Roy Yandle and Dennis Yandle (Carol). The loves of her life, her grandchildren; Mindy J. Franklin (Brian), Tracey K. Hayes (Matt), Nita J Kirkpatrick (Mathew), Jennifer K. Howard (Adam), Joshua Alexander, Justin Alexander (JoAnna) Her great
grandchildren, Ansley Hayes, Abigail Hayes, Addison Howard, Lillian Howard, Ashton Franklin, Elizabeth Franklin, Grayson Franklin, Blake Kirkpatrick (Brandi), Chloe K. McGee (Zack) Caleb Kirkpatrick, Isabella Kirkpatrick, Benjamin Kirkpatrick, William Alexander and Mackenzie Alexander.
Loretta, was a very loved daughter, a sister, a Mom, a Mawmaw, “a Mawmaw ‘Retta’ “and “a Ms.Loretta”. She was a very independent lady, and managed life making lots friends along the way. She loved her family and her church. Her children spent time with her and her grandchildren loved her funny ways.
After years of working as a bookkeeper and retiring from LaMarick Beauty Supplies, she enjoyed time with her friends and going on the Christian Tours with her church, later talking her Dad into going on them with her. She always talked about her Dad and their trips. It was one of her favorite memories.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Westford Methodist Church, 273 State Highway 49, Concord, NC 28025 at 1:00pm. Family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm Loretta will be laid to rest at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clear Creek Nursing in Mint Hill that loved on our Mom, and the caring and loving staff of Cardinal Hospice and Resources. We appreciate the love and care that you showed Loretta and her children.
