Loretta Pharr

Mildred Loretta Ogle Pharr passed away on Saturday Oct 18, 2014 at Levine Dixon Hospice House. She was with family members at the time. Loretta was born Sept 13, 1928 in Spartanburg, SC to Sidney Monroe Ogle and Lois Simmons Ogle. Several family members still live in the area. She married Dalton Jack Pharr in 1949 and eventually moved to Charlotte. In 1959 the family moved to Mint Hill.

Loretta is survived by her three children, son Rick Pharr and wife Carol of Midland, NC and son Danny Pharr and wife Virginia of Mint Hill. She is also survived by her daughter Connie Ensley and her husband Keith of Mint Hill. Loretta’s is survived by her grandchildren Alex Ensley and Jarred Pharr both of Mint Hill and Kevin Huntley of Concord in addition to two great grand children, Hailey Pharr and Zac Huntley as well as her brother Richard Ogle of Dallas, TX

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, grandson Daniel as well as her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Loretta was member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church and the Fred Brown Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW. Loretta also sang in the church choir. She served two terms on the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Board.

In addition to raising a family, Loretta worked for a number of years at Travel Tours, Inc. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit six continents in her life. She had fond memories of many of her trips and was hopeful of traveling again someday.

She will be missed by family and friends.

Services for Loretta will be held Thursday October 23 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill with family receiving friends at 11:00am. A service for Loretta will follow at the church at noon with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church 11501 Bain School Road Mint Hill, NC 28227.
