She was born on June 2, 1938.
She grew up in the mountains of Deep Gap, North Carolina. Lou graduated from Appalachian High School in 1955 at age 17 and moved to Charlotte soon after. She began working at Bell South before beginning her career at Duke Power as an Executive Secretary, until she retired. Lou was a long-standing member of Mt Harmony Baptist Church. Most knew her as NANA; she was an intelligent, beautiful, loving, kind and caring lady, who had an amazing ability to love and be loved by everyone who knew her. We are all so blessed to have been a part of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and treasured the precious memories she made with them. She enjoyed traveling, long walks and being outside tending to her flowers.
Lou is survived by her children, Janea Geer (William “Bill”), Tonya Young (William “Les”), Ronnie Plowman (Robin); grandchildren, Michael T. Plowman (Caitlin), William Geer, Briahna Young (fiancé Tyler); Great-grandchildren, Bella Plowman, Nova Plowman, and soon to be Waylon Jacob Waller.
