Mancie Jerome "J.R." Hutto Jr.

Mancie Jerome "JR" Hutto, Jr., 85, of Charlotte, NC, died June 8, 2013, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born May 26, 1928, in Charleston, SC to the late Mancie and Beulah Hutto.

JR was a graduate of Scotts High School. Having served in Army Air Corps during the Korea War, he was stationed in Germany, as well as many other locations. JR was a former owner of Contemporary Furniture Designs in Stallings, NC, where he was involved in the daily production of the furniture. After he retired, he enjoyed long trips to the beach with his wife, keeping his great grandkids, spending time with family, and visiting with friends. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 63 years, Dorothy Shaw Hutto; sons, Donald “Steve” Hutto and wife, Judy, and David Hutto and fiancé, Paula; grandchildren, Kim Gordon and husband, Michael, Caren Dowless and husband, Russell, and Christopher Hutto and wife, Dina; and five great-grandchildren, Curtis Gordon, Abby and Alivia Dowless, and Avery and Cameron Hutto. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, June 10, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, at Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC.
