Mrs. Bailey, 73, of Matthews, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at her home.
A service to celebrate Marcie’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
Born December 18, 1936 in La Nava de Santiago, Spain, Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late Alfonso Galeano and Josefa Sanchez Galeano. She was a high school graduate and spoke Spanish, English and French.
Marcie was loved and cherished by her husband of nearly 49 years, her children, grandchildren and long time friends. She was a vibrant, outgoing person who loved to travel having visited England, France, Germany, Greece, Morocco, Central and South America, Korea and Japan.
Marcie was an extraordinary cook, preparing American, European and Asian dishes with ease. She taught gourmet cooking classes in the community college system in both Fayetteville and Raleigh. She had a natural ability to create dishes that brought on raves over her talent.
She is survived by her loving husband, W. Lee Bailey; son, David L. Bailey and grandchildren, Bradley Bailey, Kristen Bailey and Hunter Bailey, all of Garner; son, Dr. Charles E. Bailey and grandchildren, Jacob Bailey, Ethan Bailey and Allison Bailey, all of San Antonio, TX; brother, Antonio Galeano and wife, Josefa, of Madrid, Spain; sisters, Tani Galeano Pando and husband, Rafael, of Madrid, Spain, Alfie Galeano Johnson and husband, Ken, of Matthews, and Maria Galeano Vos and husband, Kevin, of Fayetteville.
