Marilyn June Bair of Mint Hill, N.C. passed away at home mid-afternoon on October 22, 2018. “GranGran”, as she was affectionately known by all those near to her, was born in Rock Hill, SC on June 20, 1938. Both of her parents (James Lacey & Kathleen “Tab” Rollins), of Rock Hill, SC, her spouse, Edward Carl Bair, of Rock Hill, S.C. and her brother, Don Rollins of Fayetteville, N.C. predeceased her.
Marilyn’s lovely face and happy disposition were mainstays for many years as the Lancôme representative at the Belk makeup counter in Rock Hill, S.C. In addition, her passion and great talent for floral arranging and interior decorating were put to use in her small consignment shop and the homes of family and friends. She was a member of Elevation Church in Matthews, N.C.
Marilyn was survived by her two daughters, Sharon Browne and fiancé (Tony Bell) of Mint Hill, N.C. and Anita Geddings and husband (Bill) of York, S.C. She has two granddaughters, Shannon Machelle Smith and husband Jeffrey, of Mint Hill, N.C. and Jennifer Geddings Phillips and husband (Garrett) of Clover, S.C. Also surviving her are her brothers Gary Rollins of Rock Hill, S.C., Danny Rollins and wife (Lee) of Spanaway, Washington and Ed Rollins and wife (Janet) of Anaheim, California, as well as her Sister, Linda Odom (Jack), of Rock Hill, S.C.
GranGran’s pride and treasures were her nine great-grandchildren: Justis Heitz (20), Nick “Hunter” Heitz (18), Catherine “KK” Heitz (14), Asher Smith (7), and Annaliese Smith (5) of Mint Hill, N.C. Noah Barnette (21), Matthew Barnette (18) of Concord, N.C., Ayden Hawkins (14) of Clover, S.C. and Aubrey Rillorta (11) of Charleston, S.C. They were all very special to her and the source of great pride, as evidenced in conversation with anyone who listened! Her affection for the many animals that she so loved and cared for, will never be forgotten.
In the last five months of Marilyn’s life at home, she was loved and cared for by her special care-givers: Bryonna Roberts, Toni Galloway, Tera Goldt, Ebony Griner and Amy Mann. We would also like to remember Hospice for their care and family friend, Dan Halbrook for his special collection of poems, which comforted her during her illness. The family wishes to extend special thanks to these loving hands who made a difference in GranGran’s final months on earth.
