Marjorie "Patty" Powers Wilson

Marjorie Powers Wilson, “Patty”, 96, of Charlotte, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2013. She was born on May 21, 1917 in Wilson, NC to the late Walter C. and Marie D. Powers. Arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2013 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in the Trinity Room at 10:00am with the service to follow in the sanctuary at 11:00am. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Rd.

Patty grew up in Sanford, NC. Upon moving to Charlotte in 1946, she became an active member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. She loved to garden and sew, and loved taking care of her family and church. Patty will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother in law, and the best role model possible!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marvin O. Wilson, Sr. and her sister, Marie P. Knight. She is survived by her children, Marjorie W. Lockwood (Peeps), Marvin O. Wilson, Jr. (Faye), Walter H. Wilson (Peggy) and Robert H. Wilson (Becky), and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Lance Wilson (Denise), Scott Lockwood (Jackie), Jeff Lockwood (Valerie), Susan Lockwood, Andrew Wilson, Leslie Wilson, Evan Wilson and Carrie W. Kerrick (Wesley), as well as eight great grandchildren, a sister, Jean P. Petty and brother, Walter C. Powers, Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Cove at Wilora Lake Assisted Living for their compassionate care of Patty.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Hickory Grove Methodist Church Cemetery Maintenance Trust Fund.
