Martha Shaver Hinson

She was born on June 9, 1941, to the late Samuel J. and Bernice Stoker Shaver.

Mrs. Hinson worked for thirty-two years at Allison Erwin Company as the switchboard operator and communications administrator. She was also employed with Odell Associates for ten years and Wachovia and Pulte Realty before retirement.

She had been a member of the PBX/Telecommunicators Club of Charlotte for forty years and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Martha is survived by her husband, Jerry “Pep” Hinson; son, Todd Hinson, Dallas, NC; and granddaughter, Maggie Hinson, Hickory, NC.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church-Latin American Campus in Charlotte. The Reverend Dr. Joe Brown will officiate with burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, NC.

In addition to her parents, her brother, Sammy Shaver, preceded her in death.
