Mrs. Maurice Austin Gandy, 82, of Charlotte, NC went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 22, 2010. She passed away surrounded by her family in the care of The Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital. She was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church. Maurice was born November 30, 1928 in Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ashford, her father, Jay Ashford, her husband, Richard M. Gandy and two sons, Marcel Vincent Gandy and Paul Jay Gandy. She is survived by her daughter, Sasha Reeves and two sons Dr. Richard Steven Gandy and Carry Preston Gandy, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Arlington Baptist Church at 3 p.m. on December 26, 2010. Her son, Steven, will officiate the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Arlington Baptist Church, Building Fund, 9801 Arlington Church Rd., Charlotte, NC 28227.
