Its been over a year since Mike has passed and many more years than that since I last saw him. I'm not sure what made him creep into my mind as I sit here working but as sure as anyone that knew him could attest the memory was a good one. In fact I cannot think of one bad memory I actually have of Mike. That is a rare thing really when you think about it. Just like Mike was a rare person, always positive, happy and able to look on the bright side of life no matter what was currently happening. 

I happened to get Michael on my mind this morning and was so sad to see that he had passed.  While I have not seen Michael in many years, he was a big part of my childhood and I will carry fond memories of him always.  I send my condolences to all of his family and friends.

Marlene, I wanted to be in touch with reading of the loss of your son.

We were best high school friends that have certainly lost touch over the years.  I guess you live in Mint Hill; however, I think I last saw you at South Park Mall and that has been years also.

I preach to my 3 sons to try and live your life so when you look back you don't have to many regrets.  I am now living with a huge regret of not seeing my brother enough. I thought I had a lot more time with Michael.  I  learned from his friends, most of whom I've never met before, that  my brother was loved by so many people and had such amazing friends that loved him. I want to say thank you to everyone that loved and cared for Michael. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for my family especially my parents. 

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to school from Bain to Independence with Mike. He always made me smile. He will be missed.

Sarah and I are so very sorry to hear of  Michael’s passing.  We send  prayers and love to Tommy and Marlene  and the Family during this  very difficult time.  We thought Michael was a very handsome and outgoing young man and enjoyed him especially on a trip to Hawaii.

I’ve been around Michael pretty much five days a week for the past 27 years. He was my cousin but loved him like a brother. We were a team for sure. He was a friend to everyone. I’ll cherish the time I got to spend with you. You’ll be missed ❤️

I was so saddened to hear of Michael's passing. Although I haven't worked with him since 2010, I often recall some of the pleasant memories I have when we were in daily contact. My heart goes out to you, Tommy and Marlene. I'm sure you have many proud memories and feel blessed to have spent the years you had with such a fine son. I still miss you all.

This is so hard to write, because I cannot believe Mike has passed away..his family lived across the street from us for many years, and Mike was one of the first friends our sons met when we moved to Charlotte, and he has always been a special special friend to them..Mike always seemed to be smiling or laughing at something, and always seemed to be so upbeat..he loved to talk and kid around, even when he was a young boy, with people his own age as well as with me and my husband..he was just an all around nice person, and will be missed so much, especially by my boys..Stu and I send our sincere thoughts and prayers to you, Tommy and Marlene, and all of your family...may you find peace and solace as time goes by..Prayers and Blessings, Sue and Stu Cooper

Michael you were always a beaming lite of sunshine !! I can't ever remember a time when you were not smiling or laughing or giving me a hug or telling each other we were each others favorite cousin.  You inspired me with your shinning love and tender heart.  You always gave from your heart and helped others in need.  We love and miss you! I am so saddened to hear the news of Mikes passing.  I met Mike in the 7th grade at Northeast Junior High school.  We became instant friends as we always were stuck together in classes  because of our last names. After graduating Independence High, we saw each other occasionally as we both still lived in Mint Hill. Last time I saw Mike was our 20th high school reunion. It was so much fun reminiscing about our younger days!

In 1985 - I went to work for a company called Gerrard Tire, hence this is 
where I met Mike – a sweet eleven year old (terror).   Over the years I watch him grew into the man he was.  A man of integrity – took responsibility for his actions – putting others needs above his own – helping others in need – always giving the benefit of a doubt – choosing honesty in all things – showing respect for everyone – just manifesting humility with goodness and kindness.   Not many can say that about some people – but Mike was not just another person.  He was a stand up guy, one that many were proud to call him their friend, that includes me.
I will forever miss his bright light – smile – sense of humor – his picky eating habits and all the other crazy things that made Mike – Mike!  It is best said in “Raymond Chandler's book The Long Goodbye” “To say Goodbye – is to die a little”.  

We are sorry to hear of Mike's passing.  Praying for comfort and peace for his family and friends in the days and weeks ahead.
