Norris was born May 31, 1944 in Greenville Co., SC, son of the late Norris Rae Shor and Annie Whisnanat Short. He was the President of W.M. Martin Co. Norris was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a mason and member of the Mint Hill Lodge #742 F&AM.
Surivivors include his wife Judy Short; children, Norris and Jennifer Short, Cindy and Rex Medlin, and Teresa and Mike Sell; a brother Bennie Crosby; a sister, Jeannean Rogers; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Rae Short.
The family will gather to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel with the Rev. Lee Pigg officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Harris Hospice Unit at Novant Presbyterian or the American Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) in memory of Norris Eugene Short, Sr.
