Nova Jean Privette Hand

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at McEwen – Mint Hill Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Vishnu Harbhajan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Hand was born November 16, 1933 in Indian Trail, NC. She was one of fourteen children of the late Isaac and Carrie August Perkins Privette. Nova married her husband, the late Martin W. Hand, in June of 1949. She retired from Harris – Teeter with over twenty-five years of service. Nova cared deeply for others and she regularly helped take care of her brother-in-law, Jack Hancock of Wingate, NC. She will be dearly missed by her church friends and all who knew her.

Mrs. Hand is survived by her loving daughters, Pamela Gordon (Ronald) of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC and Barbara Welch (Eddie) of Mt. Holly, NC; her only living sibling, Mary Threat of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Farson (Jim) of Ocean Isle, NC, Melanie C. Gordon of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC, and Mitchell Gordon of Little River, SC; great grandchildren, Savannah Hunsucker, Bailey Moore, and Chandler Bush; brother-in-law, Ted Hand and his wife, Evelyn of Mint Hill, NC; and by her loving nieces and nephews.
