

Gene graduated in 1956 from Huntington High School in Huntington, West Virginia. He enlisted in the Air Force almost immediately graduating high school. He met his wife, Connie, in September 1959 and they were married in the spring of 1960. After serving his country, Gene's work led him to a 30 year career with TV Guide which ultimately became Murdoch Magazines.
Gene has always been involved in his community. In the 1960s and 1970s he was active with the Greenville SC Jaycees. Gene and Connie were very active members of the National Square Dance community where he was president of the National Executive Committee. Recently, he was the first President of the HOA Board of Directors at the Polo Club of Matthews, and remained an active member of the community. You could always count on him as a election precinct volunteer on Election Day. Gene was a proud supporter of the Matthews Police Department, helping whenever he saw the need.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, James Triplett and Roger Triplett.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Connie Triplett; his sons, Rans Triplett and Chris Triplett; his sister, Lois Hunt; his brothers, Donald Triplett (Gatha), Darrell Triplett, and Bo Triplett (Sue); and many other loving extended family members.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney Street, Pineville, NC.
