Ray Miller Cofer

Mr. Cofer, 75, of Charlotte, NC went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1940 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late Everett Cofer and the late Laura Cofer.

He was employed with Action Food Sales for 25 years. He married Becky Brakefield when they were 16 years old on May 30, 1956. They celebrated 59 years of marriage this past Saturday. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he served since 1975 and was a member of the Henry Ward Sunday school class. Mr. Cofer spent his entire life loving his wife, girls, and his 5 grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Becky Cofer; daughters Tami Phipps and her husband Rev. Sam Phipps; Sharon McWhirter and her husband Tim McWhirter; grandchildren Seth Phipps and his wife Ericka Phipps, Christian Phipps, Noel Phipps, Rebecca McWhirter and Sarah McWhirter; brother Benny Cofer and his wife Lea of Green Valley, AZ.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Cofer will be 3:00 pm on Saturday June 6, 2015 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Pressley, Rev. Henry Ward, Dr. Joe B. Brown, and his grandson Seth Phipps officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday June 6, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Hickory Grove.
