

Ray was born on July 13, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Etta and Arthur Baker, and was a resident of Mint Hill, North Carolina for the past 43 years.
Ray graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958 and served in the Delaware National Guard from 1960 until 1965. He spent his entire career working as a Chemical Sales/Product Manager with BP/Amoco. Ray was a tractor fanatic, World War II enthusiast and looked forward to his daily talks with his friends at Penny’s Place. He enjoyed his trips to the Eastern Shore, where he visited his favorite beaches and loved sitting on the back porch looking at the ocean.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Michael Parks of Seaford, Delaware; his three daughters, Elizabeth Carriker and husband, Ryan, of Rockingham, North Carolina, Deborah Blee and husband, Michael, of Belmont, North Carolina, and Katherine Macera and husband, Garett, of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
A visitation with the family will be from 9:00 until 10:00 am, Friday, June 24, 2016, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A memorial service to celebrate Ray’s life will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel.
