

Regis, of Charlotte, NC, passed on quietly at home on November 26, 2010. He was born in McKeesport, PA on December 18, 1942 to parents, Virginia Sullivan Malady and Regis Rowland Malady, Sr., who both predeceased him. He grew up in Elizabeth, PA, attended Elizabeth-Forward High School, and then Duquesne University with a basketball scholarship.
He is survived by Barbara P. Malady, his wife of 35 years; his children, David Malady and wife, Allison, of Monroe, NC, and Erin Malady Baugh and husband, Ronnie, of Cary, NC; also by David and Erin’s mother, Marie Malady of Matthews, NC; and by three beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicklaus Baugh and Maggie Malady. He is also survived by sisters, Linda Bradshaw of Charlotte, Mary Beth Kelley of Knoxville, TN, and Ann Malady of Elizabeth, PA; by brothers, James, Neil and Michael of the Pittsburgh, PA area, and John Malady of Harrisburg, PA; and eleven nieces and nephews.
Rege sold stainless steel and specialty metals for many years. For twenty years he ran The Celtic Trader, a shop specializing in Scottish and Irish music. Most recently he worked as a customer service representative for USAirways. Rege liked people and his work led him to many far-flung friendships. He took The Celtic Trader to many music festivals and Scottish highland games in the eastern US, where friends purchased his CDs. Rege will be sorely missed.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 29, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. The Rev. Tom Tate will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
