Rich was born on February 2, 1949, in East Orange, NJ, to William and Helen Ferretti, and was raised in West Orange, NJ. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, including service during the Vietnam War, and carried that sense of duty and honor throughout his life.
Above all, Rich was a devoted family man and a man of God whose faith guided every day of his life. He and his wife, Carol, shared 55 years of marriage and built a home grounded in faith, love, and family. He found peace in gardening, and the care he gave to his garden was the same care he gave to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Rick (Jenna) and Michael (Jen); his grandchildren, Arianna, Gavin, Elizabeth, and Gianna; his sister, Linda (Howard); and many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen, and his brother, Ronald.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel at 10:30am with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tunnels to Towers.
