

Born June 30, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Heisey was a son of the late Richard Edgar Heisey, Sr. and Catherine Fianne Allwein Heisey. He lived in Royal Oak, Michigan, until the age of eight, and then the family moved to their forever home in Birmingham, Michigan. He went to Shrine Catholic School from the first grade until graduation. He loved serving as an altar boy at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church.
Mr. Heisey followed in his father’s footstep and graduated from Tri-State University with a degree in Engineering. While at Tri-State, he interviewed with a new company called IBM and moved to New York to start his wonderful 30 plus year career. While with IBM, he held numerous engineering positions before retiring in 1992.
He married his lovely wife, Vickey, on June 20, 1987, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was a rock-solid, hardworking, family man. He attended St. John Catholic Church and Morning Star Lutheran Church.
Mr. Heisey enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing softball. He was a member of the J.C.’s, was a Detroit Lions fan, and enjoyed Kenny Rogers, ABBA and Kenny G music.
A smart man who told great stories, Mr. Heisey will be remembered for his work on NASA computer system and working on ATM. He enjoyed traveling, was a jokester, and loved Pop Tarts and sweets.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Heisey was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Dragotta and her husband, Sal; a sister-in-law, Kate Heisey; and a nephew, Matthew Heisey.
He is survived by his wife, Vickey Heisey; his sons, Richard Heisey, III and his wife, Mandy, of Laurens, South Carolina, and Kenny Culpepper of Charlotte; his daughters, Debbie Outlaw and husband, Thomas, of Morehead City, North Carolina, Kim Allion and husband, Mike, and Sandy Heisey, all of Charlotte, and Angie Morrow and husband, Allen, of Midland, North Carolina. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Nick Allion and wife, Stephanie, Justin Heisey and wife, Katie, Tyler Outlaw, Adam Culpepper, Micah Heisey, Calie Heisey, Jessie Allion, and Erin Outlaw; and his great-grandson, Coleson Heisey. Also surviving are his brothers, Phillip Heisey and wife, Michael Susan, of Woodbridge, Virginia and Thomas Heisey of Rockledge, Florida; a sister, Susan Byerly and her husband, John, of Waterloo, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
