Rod was born on February 14, 1942, to parents James R. Whitlow and Evelyn Brown Whitlow. After childhood, Rod married the love of his life, Ina "Betty" Brawley and they were happily married for 55 years. Rod and Betty had four children, Jeffrey, Mark, Randy and Brian. Rod was a devoted family man who loved any opportunity to spend time with his wife and boys. Throughout his career, Rod worked as an Iron Worker in the construction field. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and Intouch Sunday School Class.
Rod was predeceased by his son, Randy Whitlow and granddaughter, Jewel Ann Whitlow. Rod is survived by his wife, Betty Whitlow; his sons, Jeffrey Whitlow (Denise) of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Mark Whitlow (Deborah) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Brian Whitlow (Cindy) of Unionville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Whitlow (Daniel), Courtney Dawson (Brad), Emily Whitlow-Stolba (Frank), Bayley Huntley (Thomas), Gary Whitlow (Sydney), Elizabeth Whitlow (Landon), Eric Whitlow (Megan) and Curtis Whitlow; and three great grandchildren.
A visitation for Roderick will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rod's memory may be made to Arlington Baptist Church, VIA Health Partners or a charity of your choice.
