He was born to Vernon and Ona Lee Tarlton Haigler of Marshville, North Carolina on July 9, 1940. He married the Love of his life, Jodie Taylor on April 15,1960. They had 3 children whom he and Jodie raised with the love of the Lord. Roy and Jodie served their church during their marriage. This brought much happiness to them both.
Roy was a hard worker that loved helping people in his community. He retired as Battalion Chief of the Charlotte Fire Department. He worked with his team to protect lives, property and the environment. This was something he was very proud of. His parents were a great influence on Roy.
Roy never actually retired, he spent his retirement opening an auction house that was named "Roy Haigler Auction" in Concord, North Carolina. His passion was looking for wonderful antiques. He enjoyed explaining the history of items that he purchased and then later sold to his auctioneer patrons. He was an avid reader. He researched the antiques and continually read the Bible for guidance in his life. He enjoyed sharing God’s word with his family and the church he so loved being a part of. As Roy continually challenged himself during retirement, he received his Real Estate license after becoming an auctioneer. He was a man with integrity. He was someone that we could always trust to lead us in the right direction.
Roy’s family grew over the years, and he enjoyed all of them. He came from a family of 6 children. His siblings that preceded him in death were Carroll (Polly), Corinne Redford (Dewitt), Eleanor Horne (Truby), Edward (Doris). His surviving youngest brother is Jimmy (Julia) Haigler.
Roy also had 3 sons, Thomas (Cathy), John (Cheryl), David (Wendy). Grandchildren: Emily, Jennifer, Dawn (Kevin), Brandon (Angela), Matthew and Timmy. His great grandchildren, Blayne, Makalyn, Amara, Taylor, Luke, Jacob, Brayden and Bryson.
The family would like to say Thank You to Pallbearers, Keith Anderson, Max Haigler, Roger Haigler, Timmy Adcock, Matthew Adcock & Aaron Burris. We would also like to Thank Pastor Tony and Pastor Rob that have been of great comfort to the Haigler Family.
