Ruby Alice Roberts

Ruby graduated from Chase High School in Forest City, NC. She moved to Charlotte, NC and worked as a store manger until she rasied a loving family of a son and two daughters. She was a wonderful and loving mother attending PTA meetings, dance practices, girl scout meetings, checking on homework, and supporting her children in their goals. After helping to guide her family she decided to go back to work for IBM and then into her own venture as a jewelry store owner. She was gifted in understanding many different stones and became a certified gemologist and stone cutter.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, John Roberts; parents, Marvin and Mary Jane Ownbey; brother, CJ Ownbey; and sisters, Sarah DiMaria, Carolyn Price, and Sammie Shelton.

She is survived by her son, Michael Roberts; daughters, Angela Wilson (Cindy) and Krystal Roberts; grandchildren, Ashleigh Nolen, Shawn Deese, John Deese, Ryan Deese,; brothers, Edward Ownbey (Kaye) and Kenneth Ownbey (Sharlene); sister, Martha Freeman (Bill); and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 10:00 am to 11:45 am with burial to follow the service at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC.
