

She was born in Thomasville, NC on March 7, 1924 to the late Ira Thomas and Mintie Briles Johnson.
Sallie graduated from Thomasville High School and attended Ashemore Business College. She spent the majority of her career with the Department of Social Services in Child Welfare in Charlotte, NC. Mother’s passions were her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and gardening on her farm in St. Helena. She was the committed matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed by all.
Mrs. Hulak is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Hulak Clark and husband Phil and Margaret Hulak Brinzey; four grandchildren, George Walter Hulak Brinzey and wife Dagmara, Allison Lote Brinzey, Phillip Logan Clark and John Joseph Brinzey; four great grandchildren, Kamila and Nikol Brinzey, Eva and Will Astrike.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Walter Michael Hulak; three sisters and eight brothers.
The funeral service is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 28th of February, at the McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with the Rev. John Harrill officiating.
Visitation will follow immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
A private burial will be held for the family at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice care at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center.
