Sandra built a life marked by steady dedication, deep love, and a quiet strength that showed itself most clearly in how she cared for others. A hard-working and compassionate presence, she gave her time and energy fully—whether to her family, her work, or the community she helped shape.
Sandra enjoyed a long and successful career, serving as Senior Vice President at Bank of America until her retirement. Earlier, she founded and ran Amity Gardens Day Nursery & Kindergarten from 1965 to 1974, reflecting both her commitment to others and her willingness to take on meaningful work with diligence and purpose.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Dillon- when she was not at work, she was with him. Married for 67 years, they shared many unique experiences together, bonded by loyalty and a life built side by side. Sandra adored her grandsons, Jonathan and Charlie, and her great-granddaughter, Remi.
Sandra’s interests reflected her attentive eye and appreciation for what could be held onto and cherished. She collected Tom Clark gnomes, Seagrove pottery, and miniature lighthouses, and she was known for finding meaning and memories in treasured keepsakes. An exceptional painter, she mastered many different crafts. She loved going to her and Dillon’s beach house in Ocean Isle Beach, attending her grandchildren’s various sports and activities, gardening, and participating in her community.
A lifelong contributor to her community, Sandra and her husband were founding members of East Presbyterian Church, and she was a part of the Mt. Harmony Goodtimers. Her faithful involvement and enthusiasm were part of what made her so dearly loved by those who knew her well.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Griffin Goforth, and her son in law, David Goforth; her beloved grandchildren: Charles Preston Goforth, Jonathan Dillon Goforth (and his fiancée Claire Mitchell); and her great-granddaughter, Remi Marie Grace Goforth. She is also survived by her siblings-in-law, Jessie Young, Lucille Adkins, and Marvin Willis Griffin; and special friends Joel and Sylvia Clontz, Diane Hartis, Jane Vickery, Beck Rowell, and Diane Kennedy.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Thomas Dillon Griffin on May 29, 2026; her parents, Edra Eunice Bittle Gaddy (1978) and Charles “Charlie” Clarence Gaddy (1980); sister-in-law Maxine Wright; and her loving aunt Fannie Mae Bass, who stepped up for Sandra when her parents passed, and with whom she had such special memories. Sandra is also predeceased by her dear friends Mary Evelyn Funderburk, Maxine Page, and Vickie Page.
