Sara was born on September 2, 1931 in Durham, NC, the daughter of the late William Morris McLean, Sr. and Lillie Brackett McLean. She was the wife of Billy Reid Borders, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1997.
Sara is survived by her son, Billy R. Borders, Jr. of Monroe, NC; her daughter, Chehalis A. Pitman and her husband, Robert, of Greenville, SC; two granddaughters, Cheanea Truesdale and her husband, Daniel, of Waxhaw, NC and Haley Tollison and her husband, Chad, of Travelers Rest, SC, four great-grandchildren: Taylor & Kaylee Truesdale and Mays & Kacey Tollison and many nieces & nephews.
Sara loved the Lord and her family and was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church. She lived the last years of her life at Lake Park Nursing Facility in the memory care wing and fought a long, difficult and confusing battle with dementia.
The family visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Sara will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Bill, at Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Susan G. Komen or American Breast Cancer Foundation.
