Sheila L. Logan was born on September 15, 1954 in Los Angeles, California. She departed this life on February 10, 2016 at the Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the first child of Herman Lee O’Gilvie, Jr. and Leona Smith.
Sheila was a child of God who loved to laugh, meet new people, dance and create, sell and give away fashion jewelry. She would bust a move and say, “Go Grandma!!” to the smiles and laughter of all who were around her. Sheila said that making jewelry took her mind off the pain she felt in her body. “She never met a stranger,” a cliché, however, it was actually reality in Sheila’s life. Sheila was a beautiful person both on the inside and out and had a nurturing personality, a gift from God.
She was the wife of Ronald T. Logan who loved her dearly for over 31 years. Sheila gave birth to Anthony Von Robinson and Nicole O. McCall.
Sheila had many skills. She worked for Xerox Company and Love Electronics as a Wiring Assembler and later became a Correctional Officer for the King County Detention in Administration at Washington State Department of Corrections. Sheila was recruited as a “Secret Sergeant” for her Neighborhood Watch while living in Marysville, Washington and was often seen riding with “Private Brenda” on a white golf cart with a flashing light. Their motto: “We clean up the streets one house at a time.” She worked as Financial Secretary for her church at Second Baptist in Everett, Washington and had the honor to serve as a Deaconess. In addition, for several years she had membership in Gideon International. Recently, she became a member of First Baptist of Indian Trail, North Carolina. She loved her Life Group and the loving supportive members.
Remaining to cherish her memories are: her children, Anthony V. Robinson (Sherry), Nicole McCall (Billie) and step-daughter, Yvette Von Hundley; sisters, Marcia Brooks (James), Debbie Pridgen (Tommy), Rosalind Dixon and Dwana Pope (John); brothers, Dewayne O’Gilvie and Raymond Washington; Aunt Bertha and Uncle George Jackson with whom she had a special relationship; grandchildren and Aria L. Washington her great granddaughter, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends and loved ones.
In Heaven, Sheila will join her parents, sisters Cheryl Barley and Janice O’Gilvie and brother, Herman O’Gilvie, III. We are grateful for the time we spent with Sheila as she indeed brought laughter and love into the lives of many and she modeled the importance of providing service to the community.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at five o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 27th of February, 2016 in the Sossoman Chapel at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079 with visitation held following the service.
Sheila Lee Logan will be missed!
