Born on June 24, 1957, in Hickory, North Carolina, Tanya was the daughter of Peggy Jane (Moore) Middleton and Robert Middleton. As an only child, she shared a special bond with her parents and carried their love and values throughout her life. Tanya was a proud graduate of Independence High School in Mint Hill, North Carolina, Class of 1975.
Tanya devoted much of her professional life to the insurance industry, building a respected and successful career with companies including CNA, EMC, and ultimately Sedgwick Claims Management Services, where she retired. She was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and integrity, serving countless clients and developing many lifelong friendships along the way.
Tanya found joy in life's simple pleasures. She cherished spending time with her family, especially during the holidays when loved ones gathered together. Nothing brought her greater happiness than watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and creating lasting memories with them. She loved traveling to the beach, with favorite destinations including Cherry Grove, Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and most recently Oak Island. She also enjoyed visiting the mountains of North Carolina and West Virginia, where she found peace and beauty in nature.
Tanya was preceded in death by her father, Robert Middleton; her mother, Peggy Jane Middleton; her husband, Darnell Hammack; and her former husband, Doug Silverthorne.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Andrea Heinen, Julie Silverthorne, and Mark Silverthorne (Brandi); her grandchildren, Joshua Perez, Isabel Perez, Kendall Heinen (Trevor), Christian Silverthorne, Anella King, Jackson Silverthorne, Griffin Silverthorne, and Finley Silverthorne; and her great-grandchildren, Novalee Morales, Kayden Morales, and Wesley Ballard.
Tanya's kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
