Travis Bruce Bunn, 51, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Mint Hill, NC left his Earthly Home for his Forever Home in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on April 19, 2026, with his family by his side.
Travis was a 1993 graduate of Independence High School where he was an outstanding baseball and football player. He was a 1997 graduate of Appalachian State University. He was a territory manager employed by Mohawk Industries. Travis was married to his college sweetheart and love of his life, Terri Kanipe Bunn.
Travis led a beautiful and rich life with the people he loved most. He was devoted to all of his family and friends.
He was heavily involved with coaching and watching the light of his life and daughter, Ashlyn, play fast pitch softball for 17 years. His presence there influenced the lives of many young ladies. He relished the annual Hamlet Cousins Beach trip, the fun filled Lake Gaston trips with beloved neighbors, and being a regular at Pippa's Cafe where everyone knew his name. He profoundly loved his fur babies- Tanner, Savannah, and Sophie.
His passion for his Tarheels, App State Mountaineers and Carolina Panthers was palpable- he was caught many times correcting the referees from his TV! He was a hunter at heart, not in practice as he got busy with being a fabulous dad. He had the most immaculately-kept yard and he and the neighbor made it a competition. He was the curator of his own hilarious southern vocabulary that left you breathlessly laughing. He was a novice present wrapper where Ashlyn had to be his wingwoman. He simply was a joy to be around because he was a big kid at heart.
Travis is survived in death by his wife, Terri Bunn, his daughter, Ashlyn Bunn, his mother Martha Bruce Bunn, his brother, Bryan Bunn and wife, Krissy, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andy and Julie Kanipe of Conover, brother-in-law, Eric Kanipe and wife, Brigail of Beulaville, NC, four nieces (Kaylee (Connor), Raeanne, Caroline, and Briar (who he called “Patch”), a great nephew, Gunner, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles and many special neighbors and friends.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, David Bruce Bunn.
Travis was known by many names to those who loved him most. Some of the ones most known to us are: Trav, Bunn, T, T-Bird, Travy, T-Bone, Travio, T-Bunn, Travy Claus, Buttermaker, Travy Trav, Quiet Storm, Tank and many more.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 26, 2026 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel from 11 AM – 1 PM. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at McEwen.
