

Troy began his life long career in construction and real estate, moving to the Charlotte area in the late 1950’s. In 1973 he relocated his family to Mint Hill and shortly thereafter began a journey of lifelong service to the town and citizens of Mint Hill. First elected in 1975 he served 8 terms as Mayor. He was also was heavily involved with the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years.
Troy is survived by Patricia Pollard of Mint Hill, Merry McCreary (Roger) of Charlotte, and Susan McNeilly (Johnny) of Casar, granddaughters, Kaley Williams of Casar, Ashley Berry (William) of Kings Mountain, Summer Mosteller and family of Lawndale and Chelsea McNeilly of Newland. He is also survived by his great grandson, Oliver Lee Berry who was born on Troy’s last birthday, 9/1/2020.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Helen Turner and Betty Williamson Bookman.
Due to the pandemic the family has chosen to hold a private service. Once it is safe to gather, a Celebration of Troy’s life will be held at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.
