Van was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry Sustar and Douglas Sustar; his daughter, Beverly Edwards; his son, Van Sustar Jr.; and his grandson, Jeffrey Cooper.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 54 years, Sara "Nell" Sustar; his children, Sue Cooper (Jimmy), Patricia Dorton, and Randy Smith (Jeannie); his 13 grandchildren, his 22 great-grandchildren; his 5 great-great Grandchildren; his brother, Ronnie Sustar (Linda); and many other loving extended family members.
A Celebration of Van's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Mt . Lebanon Baptist Church, 6335 Wilson Grove Road, Mint Hill, NC.
