

Born on July 5, 1942, in Washington, D.C., she lived a life marked by deep devotion to her family and enduring faith.
A graduate of East Mecklenburg High School in the Class of 1960, Verlene dedicated the early part of her adult life to raising and loving her two cherished children, Jeff & Jennifer. From 1972 until 1990, her primary focus was nurturing her family with unwavering care and affection. In 1990, she began a new chapter in her professional life as the Office Manager for F.W. Huntley Construction Company, working alongside her brother Wayne. Her dedication to the company and its mission remained steadfast until her passing.
Verlene was a woman of strong faith and community spirit. For the past 23 years, she was a devoted member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in York, South Carolina. Her connection to the church and its congregation brought her great comfort and joy throughout the years.
She found happiness in simple pleasures—watching Hallmark movies and spending time on the phone with friends were among her favorite pastimes. She and her late husband Frank Hoffecker shared a love for travel that created many treasured memories. In recent years, Verlene and Frank found joy in reminiscing over old photographs that captured special moments.
Verlene is lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff Price (Angie), daughter, Jennifer Eggerichs (Michael), step-son, Frank Hoffecker, Jr (Judy), granddaughter, Haley Little (Christian), and grandsons; Christopher and Caleb Eggerichs. She also leaves behind loved ones in York, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Hoffecker, Sr; her brother Wayne Huntley; and her parents, Franklin and Beatrice Huntley.
Verlene’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and quiet strength. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Verlene will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Road Mint Hill, NC 28227 in The Gardens of the Good Shepherd II section.
