

Wilda was born on September 2, 1923, to Evan Landrum Dellinger and Clara Eudell Kale in Charlotte, NC.
While living in Charlotte, Wilda was employed by the U.S. Government at Camp Greene during WWII. After the war, Wilda worked at E.B. Stone Financial. She met Cecil Knox Council Jr. at First UMC in uptown Charlotte. They were married on June 5, 1946, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996.
They moved to Jacksonville, NC in 1952 and were both active members at Trinity UMC. While at Trinity, Wilda was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Alter Guild. She and Knox belonged to the Jaycees, a civic organization. Wilda was a school secretary at Parkwood Elementary School. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts for several years.
Wilda belonged to the Onslow Guards and Stonewall Jackson chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She held the offices of chapter president, North Carolina division 2nd vice president, chapter registrar, and served multiple terms as registrar of the General Organization, Children of the Confederacy, and honorary president general. Wilda was a collector of Tom Clark gnomes and a member of the Cairn Gnome Collector Society.
Wilda was awarded Woman of the Year by the Jacksonville Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1963 and the Educational Office Personnel of the year in 1987 by the Onslow County Association of Educational Office Professionals.
After her husband's death in 1999, Wilda moved back to Charlotte and joined St. Andrews UMC where she continued her service with the UMW.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents Evan Landrum & Clara Eudell and her husband Knox. She is survived by her two sons, Chip Council (Sherry) of Charlotte, NC, and Evan Council (Jody) of Matthews, NC; her grandchildren, Joshua Council of McLeansville, NC; Robert Council (Claire Autry) of Waxhaw, NC; Sara Wright (Brett) of Matthews, NC; Rebekah Lisk (Bradley) of North Wilkesboro, NC; and Richard Council (Charlotte) of Charlotte, NC; and her great-grandchildren: Emmett, Madelyn, Ashton, and Gentry.
