Billy graduated from Independence High School in Charlotte, NC.
Billy found genuine enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life—especially softball, racing, and watching sports. These interests were more than pastimes; they were the familiar rhythms that brought people together and made room for conversation, laughter, and lasting bonds.
Billy will be remembered for the way he moved through the world with a rare gift for connection. He was the kind of man who knew a guy, who knew a guy—someone whose relationships and reputation within the community opened doors, solved problems, and brought people closer. Strong-willed and stubborn in the way that often comes from deep conviction, he held his ground with a steadiness his family not only recognized, but truly cherished.
Billy is survived by his wife, Kimberly Boyd Gladden; his children, Jennifer Leigh Gladden, Stefanie Ann Gladden, Kimberly Michele Draper (Scott), and Ashley Nicole Linnick (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Madelyn Elizabeth, Charlotte Grace, Jacob Scott, and Milo James; and his parents, William Gladden Sr. and Joyce M. Gladden.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2:00pm.
