

Mr. Litaker, 72, of Mint Hill, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center, Main.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 24, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint-Hill Road. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born June 22, 1938 in Concord, NC, Bill was a son of the late William Ralph Litaker and Hulda Witmore Litaker. Following graduation from Central High School in 1956, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Massey. He was a dedicated and loyal employee of Metric-Controls. During his 36 years with the company, Bill served as general manager and set-up their valve repair department. Bill was a very active member of Mint Hill Arts, where the annex gallery was recently named for him. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Carolina Panther’s fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ann Litaker; daughter Wendy Litaker-Bonham and her husband, Skip, of Indian Trail; five grandchildren, Chris Jones of Columbia, SC, Andy Jones and Bryce Jones, both of Indian Trail, Heather Bonham of Destin, FL and Jessica Bonham of Clemson, SC; and his brother, Bob Litaker and his wife, Jean, of Winston-Salem.
