Bill was a past president of the Myers Park Civitan Club and a past member of the CMUD Advisory Board. He served in the 801st Signal Base Depot USAR from 1959 to 1963. He retired from Hough, Rowell & Short, PA in 2001, but continued to work during tax season for Rowell, Craven & Short, PA until health issues forced permanent retirement in 2011. Previously, he had been employed by Carolina Metal Products, Concrete Materials and successor companies, Gifford Hill & Exposaic Industries. He is survived by his wife/best friend/confidant and the love of his life for 57 years, Sue Todd Tilley; his daughter, Laura Tilley Wright and husband, John M. Sue I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, but Bill is certainly heaven's gain! He was so special to our family! I'm so glad that I was able to see you both and give Bill a big hug a few month's ago at church before we moved to the West coast. You and and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers... Bill was a confidant, mentor and friend.... I will miss our standing appointment, during our bi-weekly meetings Bill always gave me more than he received and I'm so appreciative of our time we were able to spend together. Thank you Sue for opening your home and allowing me to spend time with my friend! My thoughts are with you and the Tilley family at this difficult time.
