William Michael “Mike” Warr (78) passed away peacefully at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Harris Hospice Unit on June 30, 2024. Mike was born on June 30, 1946, in Hamlet, NC to the late Audrey Tyner Warr and John Wilson Warr. Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fredericka H. Warr, son W. Michael Warr Jr. (Kimberly), two granddaughters, Kailee Warr and Landyn Warr both of Matthews, NC. Brother John W. Warr (Andrea) of Huntersville, Alabama, a niece and five nephews.
Mike was a life member, supporter and two-time past master of Matthews Masonic Lodge #461 where he made numerous friends over his almost 40 years of membership.
After recovering from a serious motorcycle accident when he was young, he took an entry level job in the construction industry which eventually led him to a 55-year career in sitework construction. He founded two companies. Until his passing, he was still active in W.M. Warr & Son, Inc. which he founded in 1984. His knowledge of the sitework construction industry was unmatched.
Mike loved family and friends; they were first and foremost in his life. He loved traveling, meeting new people, playing blackjack and was always on the hunt for a new place to eat. A good buffet was his favorite. Mike had a larger-than-life personality, and infectious smile and wit that was unmatched. He was a man of high integrity and always knew the answer when confronted with an issue.
His thirst for life and his drive truly enabled him to live a long and prosperous life after first being diagnosed with cancer in 1991 and was told that he had 18 months to live. He will be missed by many family members and friends. His passing will leave a void in all our lives. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was loved by many.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all members of the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Novant Main for their wonderful caring and compassionate support.
