Albert Onis Shipley

Albert O. Shipley, 83, of Ooltewah went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2011. He was born in Graysville, TN and had lived most of his life in Ooltewah. He was retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry after 40 years of service. He was a member of Summit Baptist Church.

Albert was preceded in death by a son, Albert Shipley, Jr., a grandson, Brian Bowers, and his beloved dog, Jake.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alene Stafford Shipley; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Shipley of Ooltewah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Fred Wright of Ringgold, Donna and Gary Bowers of Ooltewah, seven grandchildren, Jason Wright, Krissy Brooks, April Pittman, Stephanie Coots, Amanda Warner, Jonathan Shipley and Joshua Bowers; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5 at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Dairrel Cranford, the Rev. Gary Bowers and Joshua Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4711 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
