Alene Shipley

Alene Shipley, 88, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 4, 2021. A lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area, she was a longtime member of Summit Baptist Church and was retired from Hamilton County Schools and Ooltewah High School. Alene always loved to bake and cook, she had a servant’s heart and loved serving others in the Lord. She was called home to join her husband Albert Shipley Sr.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Albert Shipley Jr.; parents, Jim and Nora Stafford and a sister, Dorothy Hullander; grandson, Brian Bowers.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Shelia) Shipley, Brenda (Fred) Wright and Donna (Gary) Bowers; grandchildren, Krissy (Steve) Brooks, Jonathan (Amber) Shipley, Jason (Jennifer) Wright, April (Barry) Pittman, Stephanie (Mickey) Coots, Amanda (Andrew) Warner, and Joshua (Britny) Bowers; 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Gary Bowers and the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
