

Betty Lou Rymer Halter, 88, of Chattanooga went to be with her Lord on August 31, 2016 at the Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga and the Esther/Heartfriends class. In past years she had been in the Sanctuary choir, Grace Notes, First Friends and an avid member in the visitation ministry to those in nursing homes, assisted livings, and the hospital. She was one you wanted as your prayer warrior.
She loved all types of music, sports, cooking and baking, gardening of vegetables and flowers, sewing and reading. Her grandchildren and her great- grandchildren held a very important place in her heart.
She graduated from Meigs Co. High School and was retired from Coca Cola of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, a son Michael Ray, her parents Frank and Edith
(Colbaugh) Rymer, as well as her two sisters and their spouses, Mary (Tom) Rothwell and Jo (Bob) Birchett.
She leaves a daughter, Mary Jo (John) Masengil, her grandchildren Christi (Danny) Davis, Robyn (Michael) Baker, Brandy Whaley and Rachel Halter, as well as her great-grandchildren Autumn Whaley, Tyler Christian; Hunter, Jackson & Christian Davis, several nieces, and other extended family (D) and friends, including those at Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Collegedale.
Visitation will be on Tues., Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church of Chattanooga from 11:30 to 1:00 with the funeral following in the McEwen Chapel of the church with Rev. Thomas Quisenberry officiating.
Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home, First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
