Bettye, one of the first women in Chattanooga to open their own real estate firm, owned Bettye Parker Realty and was a member of the Chattanooga Association of Realtors for more than 50 years.
She lived an unbelievable life filled with community service and achievements. She helped found and was President of the Valley Forge Freedoms Foundation, was founder and President of the Hwy 58 Chamber of Commerce, was founder and President of the Scenic City Women’s Civitan Club; the first Civitan club comprised solely of women, she served on the Executive Committee for Armed Forces Day Parade, she helped create and organize the HWY 58 Christmas Parade, and she was an active member of ABWA, Ruritan Club, Riverland Civitan Club, and many other civic organizations.
In heaven, she joins the great love of her life, Edwin Carroll Parker, her granddaughter Darla Parker, and her parents and six siblings. On earth, she leaves her son, Paul (Marilyn) Parker, daughters Susie (Lewis) Mohorn, Polly (Carey) McMillian, Eileen Sands, and Elaine (Marvin) Phibbs along with 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and a sister; Barbara Crabtree.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Chapter - Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge (Scholarship Fund), P.O. Box 21443, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37424. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
