He was born on October 5, 1927 to the late James and Emma Walker. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bessie Walker, sister, Imogene Green and brother, Ross Walker.
Carl was a lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area. He was a 1946 graduate at Ooltewah High School. Carl began as a farmer, later he went on to become a custom home builder for over 50 years. After retirement he worked at Lowe’s Contractor Yard for 13 years, following that he worked with Mr. Bobcat “Kirby Allen” until the age of 92. He was a faithful member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and was always giving of his time to church projects. He served as a church usher and superintendent prior to becoming a member of Maple Grove Baptist.
Carl sang tenor for the Faithful Four Quartet and the Singing-Aires. He loved gardening, traveling and working outside in his yard.
His greatest delight was his family, who will forever love and remember him for the wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that he was. Carl touched and helped many people in his life, he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Survivors include his children, Judy (Kirby) Allen, Sandy (Don) Owens both of Ooltewah, Tennessee and Debbie (Mike) Wiley of Harrison, Tennessee; grandchildren, Melissa (Billy) Yerbey, Leisa Wiley, Heath (Ashley) Owens and Kirk and Erik Allen; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hayden, Aria, Lane, Camden and Gracelyn, special friend, Barbara Clark and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Maple Grove Baptist Church, 9525 Birchwood Pike, Harrison, Tennessee 37341.
A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Ronnie Dotson and Pastor James Vaughn officiating. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
Due to the current pandemic, we respectfully ask that those in attendance wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC. The facility will be arranged to facilitate this request.
