Charles Land, Jr., 89, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. A lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area, he was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was also a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and was a retired upholster. He was the son of the Charlie and Georgia Hughes Land, Sr., and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Land, his brother, Cecil Land and a sister, Lorene Craig. Survivors include his wife, Ida Land; two daughters, Carlus Lloyd and Sharon (Joel) Leming; son, David (Cindy) Land; sister, Pauline (Kenneth) Hill six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 6127 Hunter Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Valley View Chapel. Entombment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
