Christine Barnes

Christine Simmons Barnes, age 78, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 4, 2013 from complications of Alzheimers. Mrs. Barnes was born in Chattanooga to the late Sye Finley Simmons and Ida Lee Simmons. She graduated from Central High School. She retired from TVA after 34 years of employment. Mrs. Barnes was a longtime member of MeadowView Baptist Church.

Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Melvin Barnes; son, Kent(Jill) Barnes of Chattanooga; daughter, Dr. Kristy (Tri) Barnes Le of High Point, North Carolina; son, Paul (Chas) Barnes of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Jameson Barnes, Garrett Le, Jacqueline Le, Abrielle and Addison Coleman; brother, Danny Simmons of Dalton, Georgia; sister, Diane Sturtevant of Virginia Beach, Virginia and several nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 1 PM at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Al Miller officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
