Rev. Clovis Simpkins

He was born October 27, 1928, in Barboursville, WV, and moved to the North Georgia area in the 60’s.

Clovis was an ordained Baptist minister and pastored several churches in West Virginia and Georgia. He was also a gospel singer and sang in several quartets.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Addie Porter Simpkins, three brothers and five children.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie Kendall Simpkins; three daughters, Susan Simpkins, Mary Cooper, and Laura Johnson; step-children, Kathi, Tim, and Tony Kendall; grandchildren, Joseph and Hannah Cooper; nine step-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Gosnay and Opal Powers; brothers, Jennings and Bobby Simpkins; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Daugherty and Rev. Jeff Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday and from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
