Doyle M. Woody was called to Heaven to be with the Lord for Eternity on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Doyle passed peacefully at his beloved home and without pain. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan J. Wilbanks Woody and his two daughters, Tina Davis of Augusta, GA and Jennifer Helton of Ooltewah, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Spillar Woody and Catherine Bernice Woody. Brother, Phillip Woody, Jr. and a brother who died at infancy.
Doyle leaves behind many cherished brothers and sisters that include Lyla Forgey, Nell Carmichael, Hobert Woody and Hazel Johnson. Doyle was a loving Papw to five grandchildren, Catherine Mulhaven, Evan Grunfelder, Gracie Helton, Shayla Adams and Ja’Michael Helton. Doyle was also blessed with his first great-grandson, Cameron Lykes. In addition, Doyle loved his many nieces and nephews and cousins. A special recognition goes to Doyle’s love of his best friend for 64 years, Gary Beck.
Who is Doyle? A man who loved nature, fishing, camping and hiking with his wife, Susan. Doyle had a special connection with a little friend he loved, Gabriel, their Chihuahua of 18 years. He lovingly called him his “little boy”. And if ever there was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan, Doyle was it! Doyle and Susan had a unique marriage of 25 years. Susan was Doyle’s priority, second only to the Lord. He and Susan enjoyed studying the Word of God together and Doyle strived to lead his marriage with Biblical principles. He loved Susan deeply and never left her side. If you were lucky enough to be driving down the road and pass their truck, you just might see their windows wide open, singing “Amazing Grace” and “Blessed Assurance” acapella and you would be shouting by the end the song.
In Conclusion, a special thank you to all the family, friends and neighbors who helped Doyle with gifts of love, from picking up medications and bringing him homemade casseroles and soups. Many blessings to Mike Lowery who provided lawn care and so many acts of friendship for Doyle over the past two years.
Doyle woody was a true, devout believer and follower of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. He is a man that was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
One of Doyle’s favorite verses in the bible was John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life and that life was the light of men”.
