Edward Joseph Hensley – 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his home. Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Fire Captain with the Federal Government. He was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Tyner United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Hensley. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hensley, two daughters, Jennifer (Nick) Edge, Chris Hensley, granddaughter, Ava Edge, all of Chattanooga, TN, father, Marion Hensley, brother, John Hensley, sister, Cathie Kirik, all of Alexandria, VA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday at Tyner United Methodist Church with Pastor Charlie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military rites being conducted. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Thoughts and prayers, were sorry for your lose. I only meet Edward once when I was a little girl. But remember aunt hilda and uncle marion always talking about him being a great fireman.

We wish we could be down there to help you celebrate Eddie life. We are thankful for being able to see you guys at the last family reunion down there in Chattnooga. Lets pull the family together again soon and we will celebrate all we have lost this year. We love you all.

One of the things Ed said to me when he was in the hospital was, "I've had 65 years of the best life had to offer. I can accept that this has happened."
Let us always keep in touch, and I will be here for you, whenever you need me. I know that the Lord has blessed you with his Grace and Strength. I will miss him, always.

We are always praying for you Linda. I truly wish i would have came around sooner in y'alls life. I didn't get to know Eddie as much as i would have liked to, But one thng i did know about him is that he sure did love you and the girls. Please call on me and Karen anytime for anything.
