He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Judith Tierney, 2 brothers, Robert and Richard Tierney and son, Matthew Tierney.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Tierney, of Chattanooga, TN, two sons, Brian (Andrea) Tierney, of Chattanooga, TN, Brenden Tierney, of Boca Raton, FL, four grandchildren, Justin and Colin Tierney, Paddy and Rosie Exum, two brothers, Peter (Fran) Tierney, Shaun (Carol) Tierney, both of Pittsfield, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charles Burton officiating.
